The famous Marathon Hump lies 27 miles southeast of Marathon, and provides for some of the most consistent deep sea fishing.
However, some of the hard fighting, acrobatic and beautiful pelagic fish can be found as little as three to five miles from shore.

Types of Fish You Will Catch

Black Fin Tuna - Although they don’t grow as large as some other types of tuna, an average size blackfin puts on a breathtaking fight. These fish are absolutely delicious to eat! Locals in the Marathon area make sushi, or simply slice it and eat it raw.

Mahi Mahi - a very aggressive fish that puts up a relentless fight! It is one of the most popular fish served in restaurants with its sweet taste.

Sailfish - Considered the fastest fish in the ocean, reaching top speeds of 70 miles per hour, it is one of the most challenging fish to catch.

King Mackerel - growing up to 5 ½ feet and weighing up to 100 pounds, the KingFish, as it is also known, is one of the most exhilarating fish to catch due to its size and speed.

Wahoo - Comparable to the Sailfish and the King Mackerel, the Wahoo is one of the fastest pelagic fish, and with a jaw that has the ability to move up and down and side to side, it too is one of the more challenging to catch.
